James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was a playwright and novelist who is chiefly remembered as the creator of Peter Pan. Barrie was born in Scotland and moved to London in 1885 where he would reside for the remainder of his life. Marjorie Wiggin was the daughter of Albert Henry Wiggin, who retired in 1933 as executive head of the Chase National Bank and was himself a book collector.
